• Welcome!

My name (as you probably guessed) is Tricia Boutelle. I am a Lifestyle Photographer shooting on location, primarily in the Corning/Elmira and Jamestown/Chautauqua Lake regions of NY. What is Lifestyle Photography? In my case, it means that the images I capture tell a story. I shoot as an observer, not as one who orchestrates moments, but rather captures the sweet moments of your life, as they happen. All put together, those images create the documentary of your beautiful, imperfect, wonderful life.

I would be honored to tell your story. Please feel free to contact me via phone at (716)499-5211, via email at triciaboutelle@gmail.com or on facebook at www.facebook.com/triciaboutellephotography so that we can plan your storytelling session.

Tips for Wedding Photographers | a guest post

Hi there and Happy Friday, everybody!

Today I’m over at Jill Marzion Photography sharing some of my tips for photographing Weddings and how to ensure the day goes off without a hitch. Or at least as few as possible. ;)

Thank you so much for having me, Jill. It was great fun!

(But next time, we need to add a cocktail hour. Just a suggestion. ;)

Making the Most of Your Photography Session Experience | A Series

Okay, so you’ve done it. You’ve decided that it’s long overdue time to hire a professional photographer to capture your amazing family. Decision number one. Done.

But…. now what?!

The process can seem overwhelming. With the evolution of technology, it seems like everyone you know owns a DSLR, and that at least 50% of those people are “opening up shop” and taking clients. You love the way that many of those people make a photograph. But you also know that you are not just looking for someone to snap a few pictures. You are looking for someone who can grab a hold of this glorious stage of your life and capture it forever with their eye and their lens. You don’t just want “OK”. You want “The Best”! Here’s where it gets tricky. “The Best” means something different to everyone. My version will be completely different from yours. And your version will be completely different from your sister’s.

So I would love to take this opportunity and walk you through the steps that will help you Make the Most of Your Photography Session Experience. Start to finish. From Researching photographers to booking and on through planning and execution of the session and what to do afterward.

We will talk about the nerves, the concerns, the fears, (I hate getting in front of the camera)  as well as  the hopes and expectations (I hope they capture my little one’s amazing belly laugh) that go along with getting in front of the camera. We will talk about realistic expectations (No, that can’t always be Photoshopped out.) ;)

We will talk about How to Find the Photographer that best fits your needs, including what questions to ask your photographer (we are not all created equal). We will talk about what to wear, how to work with your photographer to pick a location, and how to make the very best of things (even if it rains). We will talk about all of it. And I say we, because I REALLY want to make this interactive. I don’t want to just talk (or type) at you and expect that you listen and follow along. I want to know your thoughts, your opinions, and your experiences. I want you to comment and share and send me emails or text messages. I want to know what questions you long to have answered, but felt silly asking.

That’s A Lot, right? Yeah, It is a lot. But, my hope is that in talking with you about all of the little steps involved in preserving Your memories, you will enjoy the experience in a way that you never knew you could. And my goal is to make it simple for you. We will break down the steps. I will create checklists for you to keep handy in your researching, planning, and ordering process. And I will do my very best to help you see how incredibly important it is to capture Your Life. And when we are done, I hope that you will not waste another day in making Your Photography Session happen. Because we all know that tomorrow is not guaranteed, and that today is precious gift.

So for today, I ask this of you. Hit me up! Talk to me. Call me. Text me. Comment below or contact me on FB. Let me know what your questions are. What things can I help you with? How can I encourage you to take the next step in preserving your family’s memories? Don’t be shy. No question is silly. And I hope that some of them will really make me think.

Cheers, my friends! Here’s to Making the Most of Your Photography Session Experience. One step at a time.

Ooh, and while we’re at it…let’s make it FUN!!!

Horsing around at Crystal Valley Saddle Club | Corning NY Photographer

Something you may not know about me. I’m severely allergic to horses. Something else you may not know, my daughters are horse Cah-razy!  It’s a complicated dynamic.

My girls ride at The Equine Inn and this weekend, they had the fun opportunity to compete in a fantastic day of riding events at the Crystal Valley Saddle Club in South Corning, NY.

It was a perfectly perfect day. Light breeze, lots of sunshine, and plenty of fun to be had by all. The stuff of memory making. The stuff that matters.

It’s such an exciting experience as a parent to watch your child(ren)’s passions grow.

And despite the excessive use of my inhaler, we will absolutely do it again because,

“To ride a horse is to ride the sky.”

Capturing Easter with my Camera and my Heart

Good Morning, all!

Well, this post took me a couple of days to put together, but I’m so glad I did.

Because after this post that I wrote on Good Friday, I felt even more compelled to really soak up every moment of this holy weekend with my family.

Here’s the thing.

Life gets busy. Sometimes it gets Crazy busy. And if you are anything like me, you get caught up in it. In the busy-ness of it all. And you forget to pay attention to the beauty of it.

So this weekend, I slowed down. I let the crazy happen without allowing it to consume me. I snapped away and documented it, and I really engaged in the action. And ya’ know what? My documentation of this weekend did Not result in perfect images. But I hope that it resulted in heartfelt, soulful images. Because those are the ones that matter most.

Friday morning, my girls decided to make Easter cards to drop off at the homes of strangers. All their idea. All their hard work. Then my heart exploded from the joy they got in providing a little bit of joy to others.

Friday night brought some excitement for my girls. Their Elementary School Chorus had the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at the Elmira Jackals game. And my girls are serious hockey fans! So it was a pretty great opportunity!

Notice the popcorn bucket helmet. Hockey’s a dangerous sport. Ya’ gotta protect yourself. ;)

Saturday brought the Corning Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt, which we look forward to each Spring. My husband is a Lion and my girls always go along in the morning to set up and lay out the candy. And perhaps scope the best spots for grabbing candy. But that remains an unspoken secret.

This year was CHILLY. But sunny. And there have been so many years in the past that were drizzly, that we will take chilly and sunny any day. But I won’t lie. I’m endlessly envious of you folks who enjoy warm Easter weekends, complete with sweet Easter outfits that don’t involve a jacket. It was a fantastic day. Lots of silly. Absolutely no posing. Just the way I like it.

After a warm up (hot chocolate, of course) and a bit of sugar detox (jumping on the trampoline), we got eye dyeing in. Just before we lost that gorgeous golden hour light. And I’m a photographer. It’s all about light for me. ;)

Busy couple of days. But guess what? I enjoyed every crazy, busy, chaotic second of it. Because I was able to remind myself that these days are few. My girls are growing up before my eyes, and in a few years, there will be no one to take to an Easter Egg Hunt, or color eggs with. And I won’t let these short days pass me in a blur of busy-ness. I will embrace them.

And as it should be, Easter Sunday was a day of rest. Church, yummy lunch, and very little of anything else. Lots of lounging, very few pictures taken, a nap snuck in the middle, and a feeling of peace.

Our weekend was perfectly perfect. A little bit of everything. A whole lot of nothing in particular. Just life. Captured with my camera and my whole heart.

How did you spend your Easter weekend? Did you photograph it? I hope so. And I hope that you will share it with me. Did you blog it? Post on fb? I’d love to see how you spent your time and how you captured it. Share your link below if you have one.
